In a 2012 Disciplinary Hearing, Wasylyshen was found guilty of the following: (1) Unlawful or Unnecessary Exercise of Authority contrary to the Police Service Regulation for applying a Taser up to eight times on a youth during an arrest. (2) Unlawful or Unnecessary Exercise of Authority contrary to the Police Service Regulation for administering a blow to the back of the youth’s head during arrest. (3) Insubordination contrary to the Police Service Regulation for not gathering evidence and statements in a timely manner during an investigation. These charges were in relation to an incident dating back to 2002. The Alberta Provincial Court determined that the individual’s Charter rights had been violated due to the officers’ conduct.
